Who are we?
The Operations Manager is (ultimately) responsible for all operational, executive processes within the shipyard to ensure efficient and effective execution of engineering, purchasing, production and facilities matters. These operational processes are the foundation for project execution as it takes place in the shipyard and on site. The position involves overseeing day-to-day operations, managing and developing staff and ensuring a safe, manageable and productive working environment. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Project Manager to promote efficient co-operation between the various departments and to achieve company and project objectives. You will have extensive experience in the (finishing) construction of (inland) vessels, from the hull to the final delivery. At Den Breejen Shipyard, we are constantly working with you to improve our team and business processes; you are able to distinguish between the big and the small and think in terms of processes.
Duties and responsibilities
You are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe working environment, a motivated, goal-oriented team plus maintaining and proactively improving quality and safety standards where necessary;
Oversee daily operations and production processes, taking into account prioritisation from project planning, budgets and project execution;
Monitor operational (man/machine) hours and costs and steer a “cost effective” organization;
Provide timely information for the purpose of project forecasting and invoicing purposes, such as identifying additional and reduced work;
Maintain and improve the quality of the processes, products and services, identifying and implementing improvements in process for continuous improvement of efficiency and effectiveness.
Minimum of a Higher Professional Education (HBO) in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering;
At least 5 years of operational management experience in a project-driven organisation;
Excellent organisational and planning skills;
Ability to act on a strategic, tactical and operational level;
You are people-oriented and able to communicate easily with all levels of an organisation and other stakeholders;
Financial insight, experience in managing budgets and financial forecasts;
Excellent communication and negotiation skills communicatively strong and stress-resistant;
Good knowledge of the Dutch, English and preferably German.
