Vacancy: Project Engineer (40 hours a week)

Who are we?

In this role, you will be responsible for the engineering and work preparation for newbuild ships and/or existing ships, with a particular focus on the mechanical engineering side. You will draw up, check and develop ship designs. In addition, you will be responsible for setting up, developing and checking the main and auxiliary systems (ship propulsion, HVAC, mechanical and electrical installations), with the associated diagrams and overview drawings. Depending on the phase of the project, you will work closely with our commercial department, the project manager and/or production. You are eager to learn and want to develop yourself, but you are also interested in further exploring new techniques, such as in the field of sustainable shipping.

Duties and responsibilities

• Engineering and work preparation for newbuild ships and/or existing ships

• Setting up, checking and developing the ship design

• Setting up, developing and checking the main and auxiliary systems (ship propulsion, HVAC, mechanical and electrical installations)

• Setting up diagrams and overview drawings

• Checking and assessing the documentation received in relation to these systems

• Maintaining contact with subcontractors, suppliers and inspection authorities

• Managing a project (in consultation and collaboration with the Engineering Manager)

• Maintaining and expanding technical knowledge and skills 

• Minimum higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture

• Several years of experience in a similar position

• You have strong communication skills and are stress resistant

• You are good at planning, organising and maintaining an overview

• You have a good command of spoken and written Dutch and English; German is an advantage
