Who are we?

At Den Breejen Shipyard, shipbuilding is in our blood. Founded in 1947 and located in Hardinxveld-Giessendam ever since, we have grown to become a key player in the inland shipping sector, both for new construction, repairs, and refits. Our specialization in the construction of river cruise ships has gained us international recognition. We design, develop, and build fully 'custom-built' vessels and are based in a modern facility with a well-equipped company site (including outfitting quays and dry docks) directly adjacent to the Merwede River, one of the main waterways in the Netherlands. What are your duties

The Purchasing Department is an important link in the correct, complete and on-budget procurement of all kinds of materials required for proper project execution. In cooperation with Engineering, the project leaders and Production, the Purchasing Department acts as a knowledge centre and supports the project teams by advising them on which suppliers can provide the right materials under the best conditions. It then correctly records purchase orders in our project administration and monitors deliveries.

Due to the growth of the organisation, we are looking for a Buyer who will provide broad support and, will be independently responsible for a number of purchasing areas.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment and services, both project-related and for general (grab) inventory and resources.

  • (Support) the selection, management and evaluation of suppliers. Perform price comparisons and support negotiations.

  • Ensure accurate administrative processing of supplier master data. Ensure that all purchases are provided with a purchase order with the correct item, quantity and purchase price.

  • Agreeing expected delivery dates with suppliers based on project requirements.

  • In cooperation with project managers and engineers, ensure that the required materials and equipment (rental and procurement) are purchased and delivered correctly, completely, on time and within budget for the successful execution of projects.

Profile
  • Minimum MBO working and thinking level, completed education in the field of Procurement and/or a technical background;

  • Work experience or affinity with a maritime environment / shipbuilding is a big plus;

  • Knowledge of procurement processes, contract terms/conditions (such as VNSI) and procurement strategies;

  • You are communicatively strong & stress-resistant, have a feel for commerce;

  • You are good at planning, organising and keeping an overview;

  • Good command of the Dutch language and at least basic proficiency in English.
