We reached an important milestone with the steel cutting ceremony for the first ship we are building for Transcend Cruises. The ceremony on 5 December marked the transition to the construction phase of the project.
The 135-metre vessel, designed for Transcend Cruises, will be launched in 2026 and will sail on the Rhine.
Developed in collaboration with Tillberg Design of Sweden, the ship features innovative and sustainable solutions. These include hybrid propulsion with stage five engines. The hull is currently being built in Orsova, Romania, and will be finished by us in the Netherlands.
The ceremony was attended by Hans Rood, CEO of Transcend Cruises, Wouter Henstra, CCO of Den Breejen Shipyard and Helena Sawelin, Partner & Sustainability Director of Tillberg Design.
“With the cutting of the first steel, we are looking forward to this exciting construction phase”, said Hans Rood. Wouter Henstra added: “This is an important milestone that concludes the intensive design phase and prepares us for the next steps in the construction and finishing of this unique ship.”
The ship can accommodate 120 guests and is designed to redefine the group experience. With spaces such as an amphitheatre and first-class meeting facilities. The emphasis on sustainability and innovation makes this an exceptional project.
We look forward to seeing the progress of this special project and the ship’s delivery in 2026.
